Clearly Ermias is unaware of the power of social media and sharing, as this theme continues with the crowd proudly singing and jumping during the older tracks. He seems pretty bemused, asking how anybody out of Californian had got a hold of his stuff. The music found on these highly recommended mix tapes make up the majority of tonight's setlist and it is clear that there are a large amount of Hussle's underground fanbase in attendance tonight as they are ready to rap along with the man himself during the choruses. He is well known for selling 100 copies of his mixtape 'Crenshaw' to Jay Z for the grand total of $10,000. Rapper Jay-Z bought 100 copies.Įrmias Asghedom better known by his stage name Nipsey Hussle is as West Coast as they come with a cocky attitude, business mind and solid music beneath the whole operation. Shortly afterwards, still before the release of “Victory Lap” he creatively issued the mixtape “Crenshaw” which had a limited release of 1,000 and which he sold for $100 per mixtape. In line with the release the rapper issued a handful of previous recordings to wet the appetite of hip-hop fans and released the track list including the artists Rick Ross, Slim Thug and Sade.
#YG CONCERT 2015 SERIES#
Although deciding against signing to a major label Asghedom decided to release the third instalment of his “The Marathon” series mixtapes as his debut album entitled “Victory Lap”. In 2012 Asghedom made the rounds collaborating with various other artists including YG, Blanco, Rick Ross and Freeway and was even rumoured to be signing with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group. Asghedom then started his own label named All Money In and released his first mixtape on the label “The Marathon” at the tail-end of 2010, its sequel “The Marathon Contiunues” released almost a year later, features rappers YG and Dom Kennedy. After experiencing difficulty with Epic Records, the rapper departed the label and the album and planned mixtape “Red and Blue Make Green” were postponed. MC some much needed publicity followed by an appearance on Snoop Dogg’s song “Upside Down”.ĭue to such high profile appearances Asghedom became tipped as one of best up and coming hip-hop artists in 2010 in anticipation of his debut album “South Central State of Mind”. The same year Asghedom contributed to the Drake song “Killer”, which gave the L.A. 2”, which paved the way for his debut single “Hussle In the House” released in 2009. Honing his skills and finding his feet Asghedom signed with Cinematic Music Group and Epic Records in 2008 and released the mixtapes “Bullets Ain’t Got No Name Vol. The rapper released his first mixtape “Slauson Boy Volume 1” in 2005, which later became the name of his very own record label. The hour long set ended with the Drake-assisted single “Who Do You Love?” and “My Hittas”.Despite the rather tongue-in-cheek stage name, deriving from the illustrious actor and comedian Nipsey Russell, Asghedom has made a name for himself combining the lazy west coast humour of rappers like Snoop Dogg with the hard hitting gangsta rap lyrics we’ve heard with the likes of Ice-T. YG seemed pleased with his dedicated fans in the crowd. The audience knew every word of each song, cheering him own the rest of the night. At around 11: 10 PM, The curtains opened and YG graced the stage performing his album cuts.

The amount of hits the man has is unbelievable! How incredible is it that a DJ can provide a greater crowd response than most rappers these days.Īfter the 45- minute DJ set, the curtains closed, and the set up began for YG’s portion of the show. Playing his own hits and as well as a few other popular songs, DJ Mustard started a party and everyone was hyped and dancing. That is, until DJ Mustard got on stage and changed the whole mood of the venue. He ended his set with his most popular hit, “Ice Cream Paint Job” and the audience was here for it!Īfter a while, the crowd became restless and went to get more drinks and food. The Texas native rapper had the crowd moving and more engaged as he performed his mixtape songs with his entourage on stage.
